6 Tips To Optimize Your Sun Protection This Summer
Spring has Sprung! It’s time to gear up for fun in the sun. Here are some helpful hints and tips to protect your skin

this season.

1.Apply Sunscreen to your entire body before putting on your suit. SPF 15 should be applied daily, SPF 30 applied when going to the beach or any outdoor activity with prolonged sun exposure.
2.Try to avoid direct sun exposure between peak hours 10am to 4 pm. This is the time the suns rays can do the most damage.
3.Rate your clothes for SPF. Fabric color and tightness of weave make a big difference. Plain white T-shirt SPF 7, but green one’s SPF jumps to 10 while a long sleeved, dark-colored shirt made of denim , tightly woven fabric, has an estimated SPF of 1,700!
4.Always wear a wide brimmed (at least 3 inches all around) hat.
5.Dry your skin well after swimming. Why? Because the sun’s rays penetrate further into the skin that’s wet!
6.Be aware that reflected UV rays are just as harmful as direct ones-snow reflects 85% of UV radiation, sand and concrete 25%, and water up to 100%. And don’t let the clouds fool you-a thin cloud cover only reduces UV radiation by 20-40%.
Make sure and see a dermatologist at least once a year for skin check-up. Remember our skin is our first line of defense against harmful environmental elements so protect your self the best you can and have a great summer.
