Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian Joseph provides eyelid surgery in Orlando to correct signs of aging in the eye area, including skin laxity and drooping tissue. He can perform eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, to improve the look of your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Eyelid surgery also enhances the areas surrounding your eyes, making you look more alert and well-rested.
What Can Eyelid Surgery Treat?
Every year, about 100,000 men and women undergo eyelid surgery to improve the way they look. A blepharoplasty removes excess fat, muscle, and skin from the upper and/or lower lids. The result is a younger-looking, firmer eye area.
A blepharoplasty can treat:
- Noticeable bags underneath your eyes
- Loose skin that creates folds in your upper or lower eyelid
- Sagging skin that impairs vision
- Excess fatty deposits that make your upper eyelids look puffy
- Droopiness of the lower eyelids, which exposes your iris
- Excess skin around your eyes
Am I a Good Candidate?
Ideally, eyelid surgery is performed on adult women and men with healthy facial tissue and muscles. You should also have realistic goals for the improvement of your upper and lower eyelids, and the surrounding area. Dr. Joseph also asks that you have this surgery performed for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to achieve an ideal image.
Eye lift surgery cannot alter dark circles, fine lines, and/or wrinkles around the eyes. It also does not fix sagging eyebrows. Patients with these concerns are likely better candidates for alternative facial cosmetic surgeries. In some cases, Dr.Joseph recommends combining blepharoplasty with a brow lift, facelift, or skin resurfacing to achieve optimal results.
Good candidates for a blepharoplasty are those who:
- Do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing
- Don’t smoke
- Have a positive outlook and specific but realistic goals
- Don’t have serious eye conditions
How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost?
The cost of eyelid surgery varies based on whether an upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, or double eyelid surgery is needed to accomplish your desired outcome. Once Dr. Joseph has created your customized treatment plan, he will review the details of your eyelid surgery with you, including the price of the procedure.
