How Does Candela GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal Work?

The patented technology of Candela’s GentleMax Pro laser device achieves faster and more effective hair removal with pulses of laser energy. These pulses are absorbed by the melatonin pigment in the hair. The energy damages the hair follicle, impairing its ability to grow new hairs.

Who Is the Right Candidate for Candela GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal?

Our GentleMax Pro (Gold standard for hair removal) is safe for ALL skin types. This innovative technology offers safe, permanent hair reduction for all hair follicle compositions and colors.

The ideal candidates are women and men seeking an alternative to the time-consuming and never-ending task of shaving and waxing. This laser treatment is virtually painless and safe. It can permanently remove hair from most body areas, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, back, chest, and bikini line.

How Should I Prepare for GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal?

The effectiveness of laser hair removal requires the presence of the hair’s root for the absorption of laser energy. Because of this, patients will need to cease any hair-removal method that removes the hair’s root, such as waxing or depilatory creams, for four to six weeks before laser treatment.

Avoiding exposure to the sun is also recommended for four weeks before treatment. The laser is drawn to pigmentation, so preventing any changes in skin tone color from the sun will promote maximum absorption of the laser light into the melatonin of the hair.

Shaving beforehand is fine and necessary on the day of laser treatment before arriving, since the hair’s root is preserved. If laser treatment is to be used in the armpit areas, do not use deodorant after shaving.

FAQ:

How many treatments will I need and how often?

Results may vary per individual, area of treatment, and consistency. Average patient needs around 6-12 treatments to receive maximum benefits and the sessions need to be booked 4-6 weeks apart.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

There’s discomfort associated with each pulse of the laser that if often described like a rubber band being snapped on the skin. The sensation diminishes quickly because our Candela GentleMax Pro machine uses a cryogen spray on the skin surface before each laser pulse to cool and protect the skin.

How will I look and feel after my treatment?

Your skin may be slightly red – similar to a light sunburn. In the days that follow, please avoid any activity that may raise body temperature such as strenuous activity, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, etc.

Is laser hair removal right for me?

Reminder we cannot treat: Pregnant, breast feeding, active tan, used Accutane in the past year, over any tattoos, or if you are taking photosynthesizing antibiotics.
